Assistant Theatre Technician (Sound Bias) (20617-0726) in Coventry

Warwick Arts Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable, and technically skilled Assistant Theatre Technician with a Sound Bias to join the team. You will be an active member of the Technical team and play a pivotal role in bringing live events to life, supporting the delivery of all technical aspects of both our live programme and conference events. It is essential that you are a communicative, collaborative, positive and proactive individual.

In this role, you'll have a sound bias whilst working as part of a multi-skilled technical team across all areas of the department. Your duties will include the rigging, operation and maintenance of sound systems for live events, together with supporting stage fit-ups, load ins, get outs, lighting and AV operations as required. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold the highest standards of technical presentation for all events while maintaining a keen awareness of health and safety regulations.

You will also assist with the timely maintenance of all technical equipment across our performance, cinema, conference and rehearsal spaces, with a particular focus on sound systems and associated equipment. You will support the inspection, testing and maintenance of installations and equipment to ensure compliance with current legislation and licensing requirements. Flexibility is key in the event industry, and you'll need to be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sound technician with a passion for technical theatre and live events to join a multi-skilled technical team. You will have significant professional experience working in theatre or live event environments, with strong knowledge of professional audio systems, sound system setup, operation, mixing and maintenance.

We are looking for someone who works well independently and as part of a team, who can remain calm under pressure and is motivated to deliver the highest standards for visiting artists, companies and audiences. You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational and people management skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments and with external clients.

You will have experience in a theatrical sound environment and have a practical approach to problem solving and a strong understanding of health and safety requirements within technical theatre environments. Experience interpreting technical drawings and signal flow diagrams and using theatre-related software packages would be advantageous.
