WMG is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Teaching) with experience in delivering and/or developing modules in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and practice-led digital technologies. We welcome candidates with strong expertise in areas such as:

  • Machine learning and deep learning using PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Computer Vision (CV), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI
  • Model deployment (MLOps), explainable AI (XAI), and advanced techniques such as transformers and GANs
  • Application of AI to real-world domains such as manufacturing, healthcare, business, and sustainability
  • AI-enabled robotics, intelligent automation, autonomous or cyber-physical systems

This role is on the University of Warwick Teaching Career Pathway, providing opportunities for advancement up to and including Professor level. This is an education focussed appointment and we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate experience of teaching in higher education and a passion for impactful education and positive student outcomes. Candidates with a track record in research outputs but limited educational experience are unlikely to be shortlisted for this role.

The successful candidate will support the delivery and development of AI-, robotics- and related digital technologies modules with a strong applied and practice-led focus. We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge of deep learning and modern AI techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), transformers, GANs, and AI agents / agentic AI. Experience applying these techniques in practical, real-world contexts such as computer vision, natural language processing, autonomous or intelligent systems, robotics, or industrial and digital technology use cases is highly desirable. Familiarity with MLOps pipelines, explainable or ethical AI, and deploying AI models in applied environments would be an advantage.

For roles at Assistant Professor level, the successful candidate will hold a doctorate, or equivalent professional qualification alongside a postgraduate degree, and have experience of teaching in a higher education or professional education context.

We are supportive of staff with caring responsibilities including a generous maternity/paternity/adoption/parental leave policy, and onsite childcare facilities. We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.

We recognise the importance of a healthy work/life balance and offer access to flexible working arrangements. We are proud to be a Living Wage employer.
