We are seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Intelligent Automation and Robotics to join our internationally recognised Automation Systems Group within the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). The role will contribute to cutting‑edge research and teaching in intelligent automation, robotics, AI‑enabled engineering systems, digital twins, adaptive control, data‑driven manufacturing and related areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and publishing high‑quality research that attracts collaborative funding.
- Supervising postgraduate students.
- Delivering research‑informed teaching within WMG’s industry‑focused environment.
- Developing innovative automation and robotics solutions for industrial and societal challenges.
- Supporting growth of areas such as AI‑enabled engineering workflows, adaptive robotic systems, lifecycle engineering, software‑defined automation and intelligent industrial systems.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in Automation, Robotics, Applied AI, Engineering or a closely related discipline and demonstrate expertise in intelligent automation and robotics. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Robotics and intelligent systems
- AI‑enabled automation and engineering workflows
- Adaptive and learning‑based robotic systems
- Vision‑based and multi‑modal perception systems
- Digital twins and lifecycle engineering
- Software‑defined or distributed automation architectures
- Data‑driven manufacturing systems
Applicants should demonstrate the ability or strong potential to develop internationally recognised research through publications, collaborative projects, funding activity and engagement with industrial and academic partners. Associate‑Professor level candidates must provide an established research profile and evidence of academic leadership; Assistant‑Professor level candidates should show strong potential for an independent and impactful research trajectory.
