The position is on the Research and Teaching Pathway of the School of Engineering, University of Warwick. The successful applicant will pursue research that advances mesoscale modelling of materials in direct relevance to UK industrial strategy and the AI‑for‑Science agenda, with a focus on AI‑accelerated approaches that strengthen mesoscale modelling itself (surrogate models, data‑centric engineering, Bayesian UQ, addressing model mis‑specification).
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental research in mesoscale modelling of materials, generating high‑impact publications in top‑tier journals.
- Develop and deliver high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including courses such as Finite Element Analysis for structural mechanics.
- Engage with higher‑education pedagogy and develop novel teaching methods, embracing changes in technology and expectations.
- Leverage and contribute to the research environment of the Predictive Modelling Cluster and the University’s Research Technology Platforms, including the Scientific Computing RTP.
- Interfere with experimental groups in Quantum Devices, Multiscale Materials, and wider electronic & power‑electronics communities within and beyond the School of Engineering.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- For an Assistant Professor appointment: demonstrate capability to establish an independent research activity with international impact.
- For an Associate Professor appointment: demonstrate a high‑quality independent research activity, substantial external funding, and successful teaching experience.
- Ability to secure external research funding and experience in delivering teaching activities at postgraduate level.
