About the Role:

WMG is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Teaching) with experience in delivering and/or developing modules in Applied Artificial Intelligence. We welcome candidates with strong expertise in areas such as:

  • Machine learning and deep learning using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Computer Vision (CV), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI.
  • Model deployment (MLOps), explainable AI (XAI), and advanced techniques such as transformers and GANs.
  • Application of AI to real‑world domains such as manufacturing, healthcare, business, and sustainability.

This role is on the University of Warwick Teaching Career Pathway, providing opportunities for advancement up to and including Professor level. This is an education focussed appointment and we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate experience of teaching in higher education and a passion for impactful education and positive student outcomes. Candidates with a track record in research outputs but limited educational experience are unlikely to be shortlisted for this role.

About You:

The successful candidate will support the delivery and development of AI‑related modules with an applied focus. We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge of deep learning and modern AI techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), transformers, GANs, and AI agents / agentic AI. Experience applying these in practical, real‑world contexts such as CV, NLP, autonomous systems, or industrial use cases is highly desirable. Familiarity with MLOps pipelines, explainable or ethical AI, and deploying AI models at scale would be an advantage.

For roles at Assistant Professor level the successful candidate will hold a doctorate, or equivalent professional qualification alongside a postgraduate degree, and have experience of teaching in a higher education context.

About the Department:

The Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) is the largest department at the University of Warwick, with over 800 staff and nearly 3,000 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in management, technology, and applied engineering. We are globally recognised for our world‑class research, innovative industry partnerships, and teaching excellence, and we are proud holders of the Athena SWAN Silver Award and the Institutional Silver Award.

About the University:

We are a world‑leading research‑intensive university founded in 1965. We are ranked 106th in the world and 8th in the UK. Additionally, 92% of our research is rated world‑leading or internationally excellent.
