The University of West of Scotland has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lecturer in Forensic Science to join our School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences. The post-holder will contribute to the leadership and delivery of academic programmes in Forensic Sciences and associated areas, and undertake appropriate research in Forensic Science on our Paisley Campus. They will be engaged in the development of educational thinking, practice and research in the broad areas of curriculum design, learning and teaching, and assessment. They will be knowledgeable in contemporary pedagogies and be familiar with online learning environments and the principles of digital education.

The successful candidate will also be expected to lead the curriculum areas and to manage staff contributing to the delivery of associate programmes. They will produce and publish research outputs commensurate with the stage of career and evidence an ability to attract independent research funding to support this work. The School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences is a multi-discipline school, and as a Senior Lecturer, you will be engaged in cross/interdisciplinary working and programme design and development to support positive results in attainment, student experience and graduate destinations.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • First Degree in Forensic Sciences, or in an appropriate related or equivalent discipline area.
  • PhD in an appropriate related discipline.
  • A track record in research, demonstrating strong analytical experience applied to forensic science, and a clear long-term plan for development of research activity relevant to the needs of the School.
  • A demonstrable history of high-quality research or of forensic science casework commensurate with career stage.
  • Evidence of experience of learning, teaching and assessment of undergraduate/postgraduate degree programmes in forensic sciences.
  • A familiarity with online learning environments and the principles of digital education.
  • Evidence of academic and professional preparation consistent with an ability to contribute at a high level to the programme curriculum.
  • Previous line management experience.
