Paisley Campus with some travel to other 4 campuses. Health & Safety Officer Full time: 35 hours per week. This role may be eligible for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. If requiring visa sponsorship, the successful applicant will also need to meet a range of individual criteria to satisfy Home Office requirements. The Health & Safety Officer will be providing specialist professional support across the University and helping to foster a positive, proactive Health and Safety culture. In this key role, you will guide Schools and Departments on best practice, develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure robust Health and Safety management across all campuses. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for expert advice, supporting partners throughout the University and contributing directly to the delivery of our Operational Plan and wider UWS Strategy. You will lead on developing and reviewing Health and Safety policy frameworks, ensuring legislative compliance, conducting audits, and responding to Health and Safety incidents. Using your professional expertise, you’ll research, write and implement procedures, deliver engaging training, and benchmark practices to maintain the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health and Safety professional to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic university environment.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Member of IOSH or equivalent professional body
  • Evidence of sustained continuous professional development
  • Significant experience in the provision of Health and Safety advice and compliance monitoring in the context of UK legislation and in policy development and implementation.
