THE POST – REQ Administrative Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Curriculum Development Team within Learning Transformation at the University of the West of Scotland. This role sits at the heart of our commitment to maximising Student Success, providing essential administrative support across a dynamic portfolio of academic and strategic initiatives.
Based within Learning Transformation, the role plays a key part in supporting collaborative working across University directorates to help deliver the ambitions of Strategy 2030 and the Student Success agenda. You will contribute to the coordination and delivery of innovative provision such as the UWS Foundation Academy and the Master\’s in Professional Practice, alongside wider curriculum enhancement and development projects.
As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of these activities, supporting a positive student and staff experience throughout. You will work closely with colleagues across academic and professional services teams to maintain effective communication and seamless processes. The role also involves liaising with a range of external partners, including secondary schools engaged in the Foundation Academy, and providing robust administrative support across the team\’s academic delivery.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent, or have relevant practical work experience
    • Relevant administrative experience within a busy and fast-paced office environment
    • Experience of managing and prioritising tasks effectively as part of a team
    • Excellent attention to detail, with accuracy when handling data and documentation
    • Strong digital skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Word)
    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally
    • Proven ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, maintaining accuracy and focus
    • Willingness and ability to learn new systems, processes, and software efficiently with appropriate guidance
