UWE Bristol’s fantastic opportunity is primarily aligned with the BSc Rehabilitation Joint Education Programme between UWE Bristol and Hainan Medical University in China. The programme sits within the UWE’s interdisciplinary School of Health and Social Wellbeing, which also delivers a full-time, BASRaT-accredited BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation course, a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy course, and a range of postgraduate and CPD offerings, including an MSc in Rehabilitation.
As a Senior Lecturer in the Rehabilitation team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education. Your responsibilities will include teaching, assessment, and student support, as well as contributing to curriculum development and quality assurance. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the programme\’s academic and professional standards.
Responsibilities:

  • Deliver teaching and assessment on the BSc Rehabilitation programme. This will require periodic travel as part of a team of academics (circa 2-3 times annually for 2-4 weeks) to Hainan, China, for in-person delivery.
  • Provide student support both on-site in Hainan and online while based at UWE Bristol.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, programme design, and quality assurance processes.
  • Engage in ongoing improvement and innovation in programme content and delivery
  • Contribute to teaching and assessment within UWE home programmes related to rehabilitation.

About You
We are seeking an experienced Graduate Sport Rehabilitator, Graduate Sports Therapist, or Physiotherapist with a strong background in clinical practice and education. You should have a deep understanding of:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Assessment and management strategies
  • Clinical reasoning and practical application
  • Contemporary approaches to injury management and rehabilitation in sport

You should be enthusiastic about teaching international students and demonstrate an understanding of the specific academic and cultural needs of this group.
A Master’s degree is desirable; however, applicants with relevant postgraduate study, university teaching experience, or a research profile in Sport Rehabilitation or a related field are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must hold current professional registration with one of the following:

  • BASRaT (as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator)
  • The Society of Sports Therapists (or equivalent body)
  • HCPC (as a Physiotherapist)

Where is this role based?
This post is predominantly based at our Glenside Campus, set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. There are occasional opportunities for remote working and an expectation of overseas travel for teaching and assessment at partner organisation in China (circa 2-3 times annually for 2-4 weeks at a time).
