Lecturer in Data Engineering

About the role
The primary focus of this role will be teaching and the development of teaching practice within the field of data engineering. You will support teaching across our MSc and BSc programmes, while your research initiatives will be encouraged and supported.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching and coursework for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Develop and improve teaching practice and curriculum in data engineering and related subjects.
- Support the university’s research ambitions by pursuing research projects and publishing results.
Qualifications
- PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, or substantial professional/industry experience that is equivalent.
- Knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems applied in specialised domains.
- Modern data infrastructure for AI, such as vector databases and emerging solutions supporting machine learning workflows.
- Cloud‑based AI engineering, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines for model deployment.
Location
The position is based at the UWE Frenchay campus and provides part‑time job‑share availability. Some remote work opportunities may also be available.
