UoPeople is currently seeking Volunteer Instructors to teach undergraduate courses in Game Design Certificate. Your service as a Volunteer Instructor will support UoPeople’s global mission to offer affordable, quality, online, degree-granting educational programs to any qualified student. Instructors should plan for a weekly commitment of around 15 hours of volunteering for the duration of the nine-week UoPeople term.
Position Description:
- Devote approximately 15 hours per course per week.
- Maintain an instructor presence in the course with frequent check-ins and timely responsiveness to students.
- Communicate effectively with diverse student populations and global administration.
- Teach course subject matter to ensure every student can master the learning outcomes.
- Regularly check in with the Office of Academic Operations and/or Academic Affairs regarding any course issues.
- Monitor course grades and finalize grades by deadlines.
- Model sensitivity to a diverse student population, representing the full spectrum of cultural, political, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area of the course, including a strong understanding of interactive digital game design, the evolution of games, and the role of narrative in shaping player experiences and driving engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in Game Design, Game Development, or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree (preferred) in Game Design, Game Development, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in Game Design.
- Prior online teaching experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
