UHI North, West and Hebrides is one of ten academic partners and research centres that make up UHI. This unique partnership allows us to deliver further and higher education programmes at our 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye and the Outer Hebrides. To support our work we are recruiting to the following role: Quality Officer.

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑driven Quality Officer to play a central role in upholding UHI North, West and Hebrides’ commitment to excellence. This position is critical to maintaining and enhancing the high-quality learning experience we deliver across the college and will be based at our UHI North, West and Hebrides campuses in Fort William or Thurso.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continual review of quality assurance and enhancement policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ensure our systems remain robust, current, and aligned with sector expectations.
  • Coordinate the effective flow of information between college teams and awarding bodies, ensuring full compliance with auditable quality assurance standards.
  • Support staff in meeting quality requirements and preparing for external review activities.
  • Lead the organisation of external examinations, ensuring a smooth, consistent, and professional experience for learners and colleagues.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

The suitable candidates will hold a relevant qualification in the subject area - at minimum HNC or have Quality Assurance and Enhancement prior knowledge, along with previous experience of working in a busy office environment. A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.
