UHI North, West and Hebrides is one of ten academic partners and research centres that make up UHI. This unique partnership allows us to deliver further and higher education programmes at our 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye and the Outer Hebrides.

We are seeking an Engineering Lecturer to be based at our Thurso or Stornoway campus. The post could also be located remotely with occasional visits to either campus for meetings and events.

Responsibilities:

The post holder will be responsible for the leadership of an undergraduate and a postgraduate engineering programme and will be involved in the delivery of learning, teaching and assessment within their subject areas of expertise and related fields of study. They will embrace the nationally agreed professional standards for lecturers to ensure an excellent student experience with sustained student engagement to ensure high learner satisfaction and successful student outcomes. Lecturers report to the Curriculum Manager and will support curriculum development, provide specialist advice and proactively contribute to subject area review and evaluation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

The suitable candidate will hold a minimum of a Masters qualification in a relevant engineering discipline and either hold or be working towards a Teaching qualification, preferably TQFE, PGDE or equivalent, or a Masters in Education. You should have experience in the leadership of Higher Education programmes and the delivery, learning, teaching and assessment of groups of students with mixed modes of attendance. Excellent skills in communication and collaboration, teamwork, critical and creative thinking, problem solving and numeracy are essential. A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.
