We are seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Faculty Liaison Coordinator to join the Learning, Teaching and Students team. The Learning, Teaching and Students Directorate at UHI provides strategic leadership and operational delivery for the enhancement of the student experience across the partnership. It brings together expertise in learning and teaching practice, quality assurance and enhancement, student engagement, and academic development to support a coherent, high-quality academic offer across a distributed and devolved university structure. The Directorate works collaboratively with academic partners to drive innovation in curriculum design, flexible and inclusive learning, and digital delivery, while ensuring robust academic standards and alignment with sector expectations (including QAA and tertiary enhancement activity). Through its integrated teams—such as the Learning and Teaching Academy and Academic Standards and Enhancement—it leads institution-wide initiatives that strengthen student success, support staff development, and enable continuous improvement in learning, teaching and assessment.

Details about the Team:

  • Management of the institutional Quality Framework driving evidence-based enhancement (including through NSS and internal student surveys)
  • Leadership of strategic enhancement focused initiatives (including QAA Scotland Enhancement Themes and implementation of the university’s Learning and Teaching and Students Enhancement Strategy)
  • Managing and supporting institutional engagement in external quality assurance and reporting activities (e.g. QAA TQER, QS reporting)
  • Liaison with external examiners

Reporting to, and working with, the Faculty Liaison Advisor, the Faculty Liaison Coordinator (Curriculum) will provide support for key aspects of the university's quality assurance processes with a particular focus on curriculum development, modification, approval and reapproval. The postholder will support processes of programme modification, reapproval and subject review relating to all HE-level provision, including QS awards.

Applicants with informal questions are encouraged to contact Elaine Edwards, Faculty Liaison Advisor (Curriculum), by email to elaine.edwards@uhi.ac.uk.

This role is linked to grade 5 on the UHI pay scale. The starting salary for this position will normally be £28,434 per annum. For exceptional candidates a higher salary up to the top of the grade (currently £31,072 per annum) may be available. This post is full-time and will involve working 35 hours per week on a working pattern as agreed with your line manager. The workplace pension scheme provided to workers at grade five and below is the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). This is a qualifying pension scheme, which means it meets or exceeds the government’s standards. Full information about the scheme can be found on the Highland Council’s Pension Fund website.
