Academic Support Tutor

Part time (21 hrs/wk), permanent

Remote place of work

Salary circa Β£35,000 FTE pa plus benefits

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and passionate individual to join our Academic Support and Enhancement team and help to make a real difference to the student experience at the University. You will be pivotal to student engagement and success, working with students to provide support and advice on a range of academic and study skills. Youll have the opportunity to be involved in developing and implementing various student support initiatives, empowering students to excel in their studies.

This is a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference; you will be integral in encouraging students to become effective and independent learners, maximising their progression and success.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Establish a rapport with students to enhance the student experience by encouraging them to achieve their potential
  • Work collaboratively with subject specialists and the Digital Education team to improve the development and delivery of the curriculum
  • Contribute to the pastoral care and motivation of students, supporting and signposting them to appropriate internal and external specialist support
  • Participate in programme and module review and enhancement, in a manner that focuses on student learning outcomes, satisfaction, continuation, attainment and progression

Our main requirements:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent and/or a Higher Education Academy (HEA) fellowship
  • Relevant demonstrable experience of working with students to support them to be successful
  • Knowledge of the operation and management of academic or apprenticeship programmes
  • Understanding of the importance of the student experience
