We currently have the opportunity for a full time Specialist Technician – Digital Fabrication within our 3D Make team. As a Specialist Technician you will be working within our 3D Make workshops at our King’s Cross site, assisting students with their work and ensuring safe use of the facilities. You will not only bring key skills with you but will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experiences. The post holder will work under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator in providing technical support for taught programs and open access workshops.

You will play a key role within the team, overseeing the day-to-day management of resources and ensuring that all facilities and equipment are in safe working order in accordance with Health and Safety standards. 3D Make is made up of two sets of wood and metal workshops on the ground and first floor as well as a supported open workbench space, general workshop, 3D Make Digital and the Digital Fabrication Bureau which support a wide range of practice, students and courses both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.

About you: We are looking for experienced designers, artists, makers and those with craft skills who have developed practice using digital fabrication technologies to fulfil commercial or educational outcomes; someone who is grounded by their experience with traditional materials and techniques but is open to testing and experimentation within different workflows. You will support the development of student knowledge and skills, using your effective communication abilities to guide students, courses and staff through digital fabrication processes and workflows, while maintaining a strong focus on best practice, health and safety, and educational development.
