An incredible opportunity for someone experienced in developing and implementing sustainable procurement practices and social purpose initiatives to support the ESG goals of one of the UK's most prestigious and globally renowned Universities. University of the Arts London (UAL) is ranked 2nd in the world for Art and Design in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. Established in 2004, UAL comprises 6 esteemed Colleges in Arts, Design, Fashion, and Media, founded in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Located within the historic Central Saint Martin's college, just a short walk from Kings Cross Station, the campus offers a vibrant and modern environment.

The team operates on a hybrid model, with colleagues expected to be in the office approximately 50% of the time, mainly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the Responsible Procurement Lead will be embedded within Procurement and collaborate across the institution, led by the Social Purpose Group. This role supports UAL's ambitious Net Zero plans, overseeing all procurement sustainability initiatives and workstreams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainability, able to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, and promote best practices.

About you

  • A proven influencer who builds rapport and develops strong relationships internally and externally with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • A self-starter who is highly motivated and committed to delivering precise and accurate results.
  • Technologically competent, familiar with ERP software, especially concerning sustainability metrics and reporting.
  • Experience in engaging activities such as workshops, events, conferences, and festivals to promote net zero and Social Purpose initiatives.
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
