Days marked * are essential, all other days can be flexible. Ideally about 2 days per week.
Internship Length: 11 weeks (max)
Internship Location: Hybrid. In person dates (non-negotiable): 11th to 13th September (Southbank Centre), 20th to 26th October (Copeland Gallery/The Hub in Peckham).
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the co-directors with day-to-day logistics, marketing, and public relations activities.
- Assisting with the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and event spaces during the festival period.
- Supporting the smooth running of festival days, identifying any issues and reporting them to the festival directors.
- Communicating and liaising with artists, contributors, and partners to support the delivery of the programme.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about digital arts, creative computing, and cultural events, and who is keen to gain hands-on experience in festival production.
Requirements:
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Clear and confident communication and interpersonal skills.
- An interest in community engagement and collaborative working.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the festival period.
- A proactive attitude and openness to contributing ideas and learning new skills.
This role would suit a recent graduate interested in festival production, creative technology, arts management, or digital culture. Someone who studied Computational Arts or Creative Computing would be a great match for this role.
About us: Peckham Digital is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) that delivers an annual festival celebrating creative computing and digital art. Our programme includes interactive artworks, workshops, talks, performances, and live events presented over four days. We champion accessible approaches to digital art and technology, supporting emerging artists and providing opportunities for audiences to engage creatively through hands-on, practical experiences. Our work focuses on building inclusive digital art communities, offering space for people to meet, learn, and create together.
What will the internship offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you?
- Support the planning and delivery of Peckham Digital Festival events, workshops, and exhibitions.
- Assist with event coordination, including liaising with artists, performers, partners and suppliers to confirm logistics and schedules.
- Gain hands-on experience supporting the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and event spaces, including understanding technical and access requirements.
- Develop strong communication skills by working closely with the festival team to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Learn how to manage schedules and timelines across a multi-day cultural event.
- Support the delivery of live festival days, gaining experience in front-of-house, artist support, and problem-solving in a live environment.
- Assist with developing and delivering marketing and communications activity, including social media content across platforms such as Instagram, X, and Facebook.
- Contribute to the creation of newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
- Learn about press and audience engagement by monitoring media coverage and supporting documentation of the festival.
- Support community outreach and engagement activities connected to the festival programme.
By the end of the internship, the intern will have developed a broad understanding of festival production, from planning and promotion through to live delivery and evaluation. We aim to provide a supportive learning environment and are happy to remain in touch after the internship to offer advice or guidance on funding, production, and creative project management.
