Job Description

The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for an established arts practitioner to play a central role in the development and delivery of the BA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Arts.

The BA Fine Art course offers a practical, events-based curriculum that supports a large, international and diverse student body. We provide a critically creative environment that encourages open-ended exploration, helping students to develop the confidence, experience and critical skills they need to build a career in the art world, culture and heritage industries, or beyond.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for on-going teaching, scholarship curriculum development, academic administration, and pedagogical innovation on the course. You will lead your own tutor group, delivering teaching in artistic practice and writing via workshops, seminars, lectures, and one-to-one tutorials.

You will also provide effective pastoral support to students and work collaboratively with your colleagues on the course to stimulate curriculum development in progressive and imaginative directions.

About you

We are looking for a recognised authority in contemporary art with a track record of professional practice at an international level.

You will have expertise in digital and emerging technologies, event production, experimental art writing, exhibition making, and/or curatorial practice. You will pair this with an astute understanding of a broad range of international art practices, histories, contexts, and graduate destinations.

Previous experience of teaching in a higher education environment is essential, along with experience of working with substantial and culturally diverse cohorts. Additionally, you will possess excellent professional networks within the UK and internationally that you can draw upon as needed.
