Fashion Designer

Hours Project-based, Negotiated per project

Neu Garde is an independent UK fashion label and we’re looking for a freelance pattern cutter and sample maker to work closely with our Creative Director on garment sampling. This is a hands-on, collaborative role for a skilled maker who also wants to bring their own creative input.

Duties include:

• Working directly with the Creative Director, taking briefs from tech packs, fit references, and design direction.
• Sourcing materials in the UK, or the closest available match, based on the brief.
• Cutting patterns and producing sample garments to specification.
• Communicating throughout the process, checking in on key decisions and offering suggestions as each sample develops.
• Delivering finished samples to the Creative Director, either shipped or collected in person if London-based.
• Refining samples based on feedback, including marking up and adjusting for manufacturer
• Preparing final patterns and samples ready to hand off to our manufacturer for bulk production.

Skills and Experience Required

• Entry-level to middleweight experience in pattern cutting and garment sampling.
• Ability to both cut patterns and sew samples yourself (essential).
• Strong knowledge of fabrics and UK material sourcing.
• A genuinely creative approach: someone who wants to contribute ideas and shape the product, not just execute to spec.
• Reliable, consistent communication and the ability to work collaboratively.
