Salary Β£15.65 per hour

Hours: 150 Hours, from 1 September 2026. Tuesday - Friday 9am-5pm. Flexibility of work schedule can be discussed at interview stage.

Internship Length: 6 - 11 weeks (max)

Internship Location: Hybrid, but mostly on site in East London studio (address will be confirmed at interview/onboarding).

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day organisation and maintenance of the studio
  • Supporting daily errands, administrative tasks, and general studio operations
  • Helping manage and follow the collection critical path and production timelines
  • Pattern cutting and pattern development support
  • Sewing, garment construction, and finishing
  • Assisting with sampling, prototyping, and fit development
  • Researching materials, references, techniques, and creative concepts
  • Supporting experimentation and textile or construction development processes
  • Preparing technical packages and development documentation
  • Assisting with packing, shipments, and collection logistics
  • Supporting the team across creative, development, and production needs as required

We are looking for a Fashion Design student/graduate who is passionate about research, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design development to join the team at JOAO MARASCHIN. The ideal candidate is technically skilled and confident in pattern cutting, sewing, and creating technical packages, with a strong understanding of garment construction and attention to detail. We value someone who is responsible, highly organised, proactive, and eager to contribute across both creative and development processes. Curiosity, initiative, and a genuine passion for contemporary fashion and artisanal practices are essential.

What will the internship offer the student and what will they learn while they are with you?

During the internship, the candidate will gain hands-on experience across the full creative and development process of an independent fashion brand, working closely with the team at JOAO MARASCHIN. They will deepen their technical skills in pattern cutting, sewing, sampling, and garment development, while also learning about research methodologies, prototyping, textile experimentation, and collection building. The internship will provide insight into the day-to-day operations of a small fashion studio, including critical path management, production processes, organisation, and logistics. The candidate will also develop a stronger understanding of artisanal practices, sustainable design approaches, and collaborative creative workflows.
