About Art Play London

Art Play London runs creative art workshops for children, combining a warm, nurturing environment with high-quality, age-appropriate art teaching. We have an established studio in Shoreditch and are growing our second site in Chelsea. We’re looking for a facilitator who can bring calm, kindness, and creativity to sessions across both locations.

The Role

We’re looking for a Children’s Art Workshop Facilitator to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate art workshops for small to medium-sized groups of children aged 2–10. Workshops are organised by age group, so you’ll be adapting your pitch, pace, and materials to suit different developmental stages — from Early Years through to Primary age.

You’ll be confident holding a room with warmth and clear boundaries, comfortable working from a structured plan while adapting on the fly, and genuinely enjoy working with children, parents, and caregivers.

This role is based across both our Shoreditch and Chelsea studios, so flexibility to travel between sites is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned art workshops to small-medium groups of children aged 2–10
• Adapt teaching style, language, and content to suit different age groups and abilities
• Create and maintain a calm, fun, and creatively stimulating environment
• Set and hold appropriate boundaries to manage group behaviour positively
• Prepare materials and space ahead of each session, and manage session timings effectively
• Communicate warmly and professionally with parents and caregivers before, during, and after sessions
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times
• Work flexibly across our Shoreditch and Chelsea studios as required

Skills and Experience Required

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven experience facilitating workshops or activities with small to medium groups of children
• Experience working with children aged 2–10 years
• Ability to pitch content at an age-appropriate level across different age groups
• A calm, kind, and warm approach to working with children
• Ability to hold necessary boundaries while keeping sessions fun and engaging
• Confidence working from a structured session plan
• Understanding of Primary and Early Years creative development and appropriate art materials
• Ability to build positive relationships with parents and caregivers
• Strong organisational skills, including preparation and time management
• Ability to adapt calmly to changing circumstances within a session
• Basic understanding of safeguarding children

Desired Skills & Experience

• A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Understanding of the UK Art and Design curriculum and the EYFS Framework, and how to use these to support creative development
• Experience working with children with additional needs
• Therapeutic experience (e.g. art therapy background or related training)
• Willingness to plan, develop, and contribute new workshop and class ideas
• Own artistic flair — bringing fresh, unique ideas to ongoing and seasonal projects (e.g. Halloween, Christmas, Easter, summer holiday specials)
• Paediatric first aid certification (or willingness to obtain one)
• Experience working across multiple sites or venues
