Our busy library is popular with students, and being located over three floors of a heritage building near King's Cross and St Pancras stations, it is an exciting location to work in. As a member of the UAL Library Services team, you will contribute to the development of high quality and student‑focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.
Responsibilities
- You will be the local lead in the collection development and maintenance functional area, regularly collating and disseminating relevant data, and playing an active role in cross‑site Collections working groups.
- You will support specified courses/programmes of study, establishing constructive working relationships with course teams and participating in course meetings.
- You will design and deliver relevant information literacy to support your students.
- You will promote resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison.
- You will also assist in the provision of frontline services, including the coordination of our student shelver team.
Employment Details
The role is full‑time, working 35 hours per week. The working pattern is 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday with some 10:15 – 18:15 shifts scheduled in advance each month. UAL Library Services operates a hybrid approach to working, with some working from home where operational needs allow.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student‑centred approach, with an understanding of inclusion and diversity in HE and the workplace. You will have an enthusiasm for information literacy, and experience of line managing or supervising people. You will have demonstrable experience of working collaboratively in a team, as well as being self‑motivated to work independently. You will also have strong written and presentation skills and be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. You will have a degree level qualification, and/or relevant library qualifications along with relevant experience in a library or other education or information roles.
