The University of Sussex Students' Union is currently seeking:
Non-Executive (Company) Directors to sit on the Trading subsidiary’s Board of Directors
The University of Sussex Students’ Union Trading Limited (USSUTL) is a subsidiary of the Charity which operates our commercial services (on campus). This includes Falmer Bar and The Deli; Room 76 (cafe); the Union Shop (convenience store); the ‘Union’ (merchandise store); a small supermarket run in partnership with the University and Southern Co-operative; Northfield Bar; and an online merchandise shop which together bring in an annual turnover of £7m. The subsidiary is wholly owned by the Charity and is a not-for-profit business – all of the proceeds raised from running these services are gifted annually back to the Charity to support its charitable aims. We are looking for volunteer Non-Executive (Company) Directors to sit on the board of the subsidiary and help shape the services we provide to 18,000 students and 3000 University staff. Through your expertise and experience, you will support the elected officers to manage the strategy and finances of the trading company to deliver positive change for our members year after year.

The University of Sussex Students’ Union (USSU) is a charity that exists to support the advancement of education of students at the University of Sussex. We are a democratic organisation representing 18,000 students at the University of Sussex, the Institute of Development Studies and Brighton and Sussex Medical School. We provide a wide range of services to students – from a confidential and independent advice service, supporting student societies, sports clubs, co-operatives and campaigns, providing student jobs, putting on events to advocating for individual students. We are looking for motivated and experienced individuals to become External Trustees sitting on the University of Sussex Students' Union Board of Trustees, helping to manage the strategy and finances of the organisation, whilst providing a solid structure of expertise, experience and support to the elected student officers to ensure that the Students’ Union will be able to deliver positive change for its members year after year.
