This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the redevelopment of the Students' Union website, improve digital accessibility and user experience, support a major IT migration project, and provide technical support across the organisation. You'll work at the heart of a values-led organisation that supports thousands of students every year, helping to ensure that our digital services are accessible, reliable and designed around the needs of students and staff.
Reporting to the Central Communications and Digital Support Manager, you will be responsible for delivering significant improvements to the Students' Union's digital infrastructure and online services. You will lead the redevelopment of the Students' Union website, ensuring it meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, while managing website content, monitoring performance data and driving continuous improvement. You will also manage integration with the Students' Union Management System (SUMS), support a major IT migration project, and act as the primary contact for staff IT support requests - troubleshooting hardware, software and systems issues, coordinating new starter setups, and liaising with external suppliers and University IT teams. You will train, supervise and support the part-time Digital Assistant.
We are looking for skilled, friendly and highly motivated people who share our values. With our vibrant environment and organisational culture, the Students' Union is a dynamic workplace only a few places could match. Led by students, we are all about working with students to help them get the most out of their time here at the University of Sussex or Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Although we have different departments, we think of ourselves as one big team and are often working all together on projects or helping each other out at big events such as Freshers Week or Elections.
Working on Sussex Campus and for the SU has lots of perks: our staff receive one day off each fortnight as part of our nine-day-fortnight working trial, access to enhanced time off, which normally amounts to an extra 6 days leave in addition to 20 days of annual leave per year, plus bank holidays. We also allocate funding for staff socials, learning and development opportunities for all our roles, and create a supportive workplace through regular 1-to-1s, an employee assistance programme, and professional health services.
