Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position focused on exploring vehicle dynamics algorithms for safety, stability and durability of next generation electrified/automated-driving vehicles. The position involves working closely with industrial partners and provides access to state-of-the-art vehicle chassis actuators for testing.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in experimental testing, programming (MATLAB/SIMULINK) and control, and should have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as mechanical, automotive or electrical/electronic engineering. Also, experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Control development and implementation, including neural networks
  • Instrumentation and data-logging

Working under the leadership of Dr Davide Tavernini, Prof Patrick Gruber and Dr Umberto Montanaro, you will be responsible for the day-to-day research tasks in accordance with the activity plan. This will include:

  • Developing and implementing advanced control algorithms for chassis actuators to enhance vehicle performance, safety and durability;
  • Refining and further developing predictive health monitoring algorithms and running experiments on the actual prototypes;
  • Collaborating with a team of experts in various fields, including electrical/electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science;
  • Participating in presenting research findings, and contributing to activity reports and publications.
