The University of Surrey, School of Veterinary Medicine was the first school in the UK with a fully-distributed teaching model. The role involves a part-time (0.6 FTE) 12-month maternity cover position available for an RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with an enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge and experience with veterinary undergraduates. This role will support practice-based trained clinical mentors in the delivery of workplace-based clinical education, fostering the individual development, progression and evaluation of final year students toward attainment of day-one competences.
Through regular and frequent practice visits to meet with practice clinical mentors and through the provision of one-to-one feedback and coaching of students, the appointee will form strong working relationships with a group of practice partners, assuring the quality of the clinical education experience. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to small group practical teaching, alongside lectures and tutorials to years 1-4 of the Veterinary Medicine programme.
The full-time equivalent salary for this role ranges from £37,694 - £46,049 plus an additional 10%.
