The University of Surrey is seeking an experienced Regional Manager to lead international student recruitment across the Middle East and Africa. In this strategic role, you will establish and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including agents, sponsors, and school counsellors. Using a variety of recruitment methods, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing recruitment plans, ensuring alignment with the University’s ambitious growth strategy. Your main focus will be on maximizing enrolments from these regions, driving the conversion of applicants into enrolled students, and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the recruitment pipeline. This role is pivotal in shaping the University’s recruitment strategy for the Middle East and Africa regions, fostering key partnerships, and contributing to the overall success of the international student recruitment team.
You’ll Be Expected To:
- Lead and execute regional recruitment plans aligned with student intake goals, ensuring growth with minimal supervision.
- Line-manage the International Officer.
- Leverage your in-depth understanding of the intricacies of student recruitment in the Middle East and Africa to strategically align recruitment efforts with the University’s objectives.
- Provide high-performance leadership, management, and guidance to maximize the effectiveness of the international student recruitment efforts in the Middle East & Africa.
About You:
You will bring substantial experience in higher education, particularly in an international student recruitment role, with a proven track record in managing overseas recruitment activities. Your broad understanding of the international recruitment sector—commercially and culturally—will be key to your success. You will be confident in delivering presentations, managing complex projects, and organizing large-scale events. Additionally, you will possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in relevant software and digital platforms used in recruitment. As international travel is a key component of this role, applicants must hold a valid passport that allows travel across the Middle East and Africa region.

In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part-time roles), a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family-friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.
