Our strategy, Incubating Vibrant Futures 2024–2030, sets out an ambitious vision to be a global leader in business education and research that drives innovation, transformation and responsible business. We are building a distinctive school that connects rigorous scholarship with real-world challenge, working closely with businesses, policymakers, entrepreneurs and communities across Surrey, the South East, London and internationally.
The School is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and the Small Business Charter, and holds an Advance HE Athena SWAN Bronze Award. We are ranked in the top 75 globally for Business Administration and top 100 for Management in the Shanghai Global Rankings (2025). In REF 2021, Surrey Business School was ranked 19th overall in the UK, 10th for research outputs and 16th for research impact.
Our research and innovation ecosystem is organised around internationally relevant challenges, with particular strengths in the future of work, digital economy and AI, entrepreneurship and innovation, responsible business, leadership and organisational psychology, international business, hospitality and tourism, finance, operations and analytics. We support interdisciplinary collaboration across the School and wider University, connecting research excellence with business, policy and societal impact.
The School offers a full portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA and doctoral programmes. Students benefit from applied and experiential learning through live business challenges, consultancy, enterprise activity, placements and engagement with employers. Located on a beautiful campus in Guildford, with London just 34 minutes away by train, the University of Surrey is an international university with a strong enterprising spirit.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in International Business and Strategy to join the Discipline of Strategy, Marketing and International Business.
This appointment will strengthen the School’s capability to understand and shape how organisations compete, grow and create value in an increasingly interconnected, volatile and technology-enabled global economy.
We welcome applicants with expertise in one or more of international business, business strategy, international strategy, corporate strategy, global value chains, geopolitical risk, internationalisation, innovation, or related areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capability to teach international business and/or strategy across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to contribute to high-quality, contemporary curricula that connect rigorous theory with the strategic challenges facing firms, policymakers and society.
The postholder will develop a strong research profile, with the potential to produce high-quality, field-advancing research and contribute to external research funding. They will be expected to engage actively in interdisciplinary research and innovation collaboration across the School and wider University. We are especially interested in candidates who can develop productive collaborations with international academic partners and relevant business or policy stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring thoughtful, inclusive and practice-informed approaches to teaching and the wider student experience. They will contribute to programme and curriculum development, student employability, academic citizenship, and the mentoring of students and colleagues. Relevant industry, consultancy or policy experience, particularly in strategy-oriented roles within multinational corporations, SMEs, entrepreneurial ventures or international organisations, would be an advantage.
At Senior Lecturer level, the appointee will also be expected to demonstrate a developing record of academic leadership, including leading modules or programme activity, supporting colleagues, building research collaborations and contributing to the School’s wider strategic priorities.
