As part of an exciting digital transformation, the University of Surrey is seeking an IT Business Operations Manager to support the IT Executive team with the day‑to‑day operation of the IT Service. This role will manage Business Partnership Management and Finance & Resources, enabling IT Services to better define a strategic approach to understanding and delivering the IT requirements of internal stakeholders to deliver enhanced value.

Responsibilities

  • You will ensure that there are systems and processes in place to provide efficient and effective management of finances and resources and will provide administration support to the IT Executive team covering budget management and planning.
  • The role will serve as the key liaison between IT Services and academic/professional service units, fostering strong relationships and supporting their success in IT and digital initiatives.
  • Utilising broad experience and in‑depth specialist knowledge, act as the primary liaison between IT Services and academic/professional service units, building strong relationships and supporting them to succeed in their IT and Digital enablement.
  • Represent the university's service needs by translating business needs into IT service requirements, ensuring alignment of technology solutions with strategic objectives, and serving as a point of escalation for stakeholders.
  • Drive service improvement initiatives by pre‑empting customer needs, through detailed operational analysis or by gathering user feedback, and championing changes to identify opportunities and enhance user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Establish, monitor and report on KPI's to track transformation outcomes.
  • Working with the IT Service Desk Lead, oversee communications and engagement activities from IT Services, ensuring timely, transparent, and audience‑appropriate information flow to all university communities, including service updates, change notifications, incident communications, and develop and maintain communication materials such as service updates, newsletters, executive summaries and stakeholder briefings.
