Applications are invited for the post of Finance Assistant with the Daphne Jackson Trust. This is a part time role in a small but growing charity that offers fellowships for people to return to research after a career break taken for a family, health or caring reason. The role of Finance Assistant is based in the Daphne Jackson Trust office in the School of Maths and Physics at the University of Surrey, Guildford. The post is offered on a 0.4 FTE to 0.6 FTE basis and the salary will be £30,414 pro rata.

The Finance Assistant will work alongside, and be supervised by, the Finance Officer to provide day to day financial accounting and general financial administration that may involve payroll, pension and assistance to the Chief Executive, Trust Manager and other colleagues when required.

Applicants for this post must be friendly and approachable, efficient, methodical with excellent attention to detail and an ability to show initiative. The post will suit someone with strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of commitment and the ability to multi-task as well as organise and prioritise a busy workload. The ability to work independently as well as being an effective and collegiate member of a small, very dedicated team is essential.

Applicants must be highly computer literate with a strong grounding in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience of working with Sage 50 Accounts or similar in a previous finance role is desirable, but not essential. Knowledge of the charity sector is also desirable.
