The Role
The Activities and Belonging Coordinator is part of the Activity Zone and works under the leadership of the Student Activities Manager. The role is responsible for coordinating the Zone’s contribution to the Union’s key showcase activities and events which contribute to students’ sense of belonging at Surrey. The Activities and Belonging Coordinator will also be the key contact for the Students’ Union’s Community Hub – which provides students with the opportunity to donate and purchase second hand items in a sustainable community venue on campus. The role will work closely with Union staff and elected student leadership in the Activity Zone to ensure that student led events are engaging, accessible, well organised and delivered within budget. The role holder will also work closely with the Vice President Community and wider Commercial Team on the organisation of key showcase belonging events throughout the year, such as our student welcome events, cultural celebrations, and sustainability activities.
Through the leadership of the Student Activities Manager, the Activities and Belonging Coordinator will also work closely as part of the team with the Student Activities Coordinator to ensure there is adequate infrastructure and support for student activities within the Union. The role holder will work with the Student Activities Manager and student leadership to ensure the Union excels in its student activities and belonging provision, so that all students can benefit from participation during their time at Surrey.
