About The Post
As University of the Year 2025 in the WhatUni? Student Choice awards, the University of Suffolk has a lot to shout about. Join our Communications team to take a lead in planning and creating our social media content and key student recruitment publications, including our prospectuses.
The University of Suffolk is looking for a dynamic and creative person with significant experience in copywriting, editing and producing publications. Responsibilities will include social media campaigns and content, prospectuses, newsletters and event guides. You will be evidence based in your approach and will monitor the impact of content and social media activities, providing reports, insights and recommendations to the Communications Manager. In your role, you will:
- Brief and oversee the work of our student Social Media Content Creators, ensuring it meets strategic aims and reflects the University brand.
- Maintain and create content for blogs, video and social channels such as LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook.
- Manage the production of University corporate publications, including coordinating photo shoots, developing and maintaining the photo library, copywriting and proof reading, providing administrative support, and overseeing required tender processes and production schedules.
- Manage and maintain a publications and social media planning schedule with clear timelines and responsibilities.
- Oversee and evaluate design requests received, allocating projects to the graphic designer.
About The Team
- The Content Officer (Social Media) will be part of the communications team which sits within the Directorate of Marketing, Communications and International.
- The Directorate is responsible for student recruitment, admissions, marketing, events, website, social media, external and internal communications.
- The team has a proactive social group which coordinates various activities through the year
- The team benefits from agile working, with on-campus time of at leasty 60%, however, many people choose to be in the office more often to work collaboratively.
About You
You will be a creative and organised person with excellent writing skills who is able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a busy environment. You will have a solution orientated approach to problem solving and have good attention to detail. In addition, you will have:
- A degree or equivalent level qualification or experience
- Experience in the production of publications, including planning and scheduling
- Be an excellent copywriter and proof-reader
- Experience creating and posting social media content and strong knowledge of online communications channels
- A proven track record of delivering multiple projects to strict deadlines in a busy environment.
- You will be competent in the use of digital systems including Microsoft Office applications and Sharepoint.
