This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Strathclyde, the “place of useful learning” as a Knowledge Exchange Fellow. The Stephen Young Institute for International Business (the Institute), part of Strathclyde Business School (SBS), takes a multidisciplinary approach to addressing global business challenges. Named after Professor Stephen Young, former Head of Strathclyde’s Marketing Department and cofounder of Strathclyde International Business Unit, the Institute focuses on international and sustainable business, international marketing, international entrepreneurship, and global innovation. Consistent with the University’s values we are concerned with responsible management and equitable flows of value. Building on SBS’s rich history in marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship, the Institute is bold and ambitious in addressing systemic challenges, such as sustainability and inequality, through collaborative international research and deep stakeholder engagement. The Institute was created through a generous gift from Strathclyde alum, Dr Charles Huang who completed his MBA and PhD at SBS. Dr Huang’s donation also funds the Stephen Young Global Leader Scholarship Programme, the Stephen Young Entrepreneurship Awards, and the Charles Huang Advanced Technology & Innovation Centre.

\\nAs Knowledge Exchange Fellow, you’ll play a vital role in the growth of the Institute. Under the guidance of the Institute Director, you’ll lead and participate in a portfolio of multidisciplinary international business research and knowledge exchange initiatives, encompassing but are not limited to, multinational organisations, SME internationalisation, international sustainable business, global innovation, international marketing and entrepreneurship. You will play a key bridging role between scholarly knowledge and management practice. You will contribute to multiple collaborative projects at the interface of academic research, business practice and/or policy, including consultancy, funded research and scholarship.

\\nWorking closely with the Director, you will play a key role in writing and producing Institute reports. You will track and identify funding opportunities with national and international external bodies. You will contribute to bids and proposals addressing needs of a range of stakeholders and you will play a key role in delivering against grants awarded. You’ll collaborate with international business scholars and KE professionals on outputs spanning peer-reviewed journals and impactful professional publications.

\\nYou will build links with national and international multidisciplinary networks. You will lead and support Institute events and conferences aimed at fostering knowledge exchange amongst a wide range of different audiences. You will prepare and, over time, take a lead role in delivering presentations at the scholarly-practitioner interface, to engage prospective and existing stakeholders. You will engage in and be supported in continuous professional development.

\\nTo be considered, you will be degree-qualified in an appropriate discipline, including but not limited to, international business, management, sustainability, or, exceptionally, have significant relevant experience. You will balance appreciation for scholarly knowledge with an ability to engage credibly with business leaders. You will have an ability to write for a range of audiences. You will have an ability to plan and implement collaborative projects to ensure successful completion. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
