CMAC is a world-class centre of excellence for medicinesmanufacturing research, training and translation. Working inpartnership with industry and academia, CMAC aims totransform the development and manufacture of medicinesthrough high-quality research, skills development, translation andaccess to world-leading facilities and infrastructure.CMAC is seeking to appoint a highly motivated NanomedicinesScientist to join its Facility team. The Facility provides scientific,technical and operational expertise to support collaborativeresearch and the delivery of projects for academic and industrialclients.

The successful candidate will plan, manage and executenanomedicine formulation, manufacture and characterisationactivities. This may include work involving lipid nanoparticles,liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles and other advanced drugdelivery systems for small molecules, biological therapeutics andnucleic-acid-based medicines.

You will lead the delivery of defined short- to medium-durationprojects, working directly with clients and collaborators tounderstand their technical requirements, develop appropriateexperimental plans, interpret results and communicate projectoutcomes. You will also support senior colleagues and academicspecialists in delivering larger or more complex multidisciplinaryprogrammes.

Working within the CMAC National Facility team, you will haveaccess to specialist academic expertise, including expertisewithin Professor Yvonne Perrie's research group. You will helptranslate this knowledge into robust experimental methods,technical solutions and accessible Facility service offerings.You will contribute to the development and implementation offormulation and analytical methods, standard operatingprocedures and reporting approaches. You will also taketechnical ownership of selected equipment and support itseffective operation, maintenance and continuous improvement.The successful candidate will have relevant experience namanomedicine formulation and characterisation, excellentexperimental and problem-solving skills, and the ability tocommunicate effectively with stakeholders from industry andacademia. You will be capable of working independently whilecontributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.This position offers an opportunity to broaden your scientific andtechnical knowledge while working at the academia-industryinterface and contributing to projects with the potential to deliversignificant real-world impact. To independently plan, manage and execute nanomedicineformulation, process-development and characterisation activitieswithin the CMAC Facility.

The post-holder will lead the delivery of short- to mediumduration projects for external and internal clients, providingscientific input from project planning through to experimentalexecution, data interpretation and reporting. They will supportsenior colleagues in delivering larger multidisciplinaryprogrammes and will work with CMAC academic specialists toaccess and translate relevant research expertise.The post-holder will contribute to the development of new Facilitycapabilities and service offerings, including experimentalmethods, standard operating procedures, reporting templatesand equipment workflows. They will take technical ownership ofselected specialist equipment and support the training anddevelopment of other Facility users.

An essential part of the role will be maintaining accurateexperimental records and promoting high standards of health,safety, quality and laboratory practice.
