The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

As a Senior Technician, you will design, construct and maintain laboratory-based research for Professor Lunn’s research group of 5 postdoctoral and >10 PhD researchers. You will lead the experimental aspects of their research programmes, including design, construction and installation of bespoke laboratory equipment. You will train researchers on use of equipment in Geotechnics, Materials (including concrete), Mechanochemistry and Structures. You will work closely with Prof Lunn to develop a vision for the organisation and resourcing of the experimental research facilities. You will contribute effectively to the wider Geotechnical laboratory and help to develop and implement laboratory procedures around Health & Safety.

To be considered for this role you will be educated to HNC/HND level and have significant relevant experience in civil engineering. You will have a background in structures, geotechnics and materials analysis (cement, rock) and an ability to enhance the delivery of Professor Lunn’s Green Future Research Fellowship on “Mechanochemical reactions in silicate rocks: Decarbonising the production of critical materials”. You will have significant knowledge and expertise in an engineering workshop or laboratory environment as well as experience and demonstrable working knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
