Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to join the Quantum Error Correction in dual-species Rydberg arrays (QuERy) team working to develop a new cryogenic platform creating dual species atom arrays for quantum computation and quantum simulation. The project, funded in collaboration with the National Quantum Computing Centre, will develop new hardware to cool and trap arrays of over 100 qubits that will be used to perform both analogue and digital quantum simulation by exploiting the strong long-range interactions of highly excited Rydberg atoms.
We are seeking a highly motivated experimental researcher who will be responsible for the development of the experimental platform, as well as benchmarking new techniques and protocols for implementing quantum algorithms targeting industrially relevant problems ranging from optimisation to quantum chemistry.
Responsibilities- Develop the experimental platform for quantum error correction in dual-species Rydberg arrays.
- Benchmark new techniques and protocols for implementing quantum algorithms.
- Collaborate with researchers developing quantum software and algorithms.
- Prepare scientific publications and present research outcomes at local, national and international research meetings.
- PhD (or close to completion) in experimental atomic physics, quantum computing or equivalent experience.
- Technical knowledge of digital control hardware, lasers and data analysis.
- High motivation for experimental research and strong experimental skills.
- Ability to prepare scientific publications and present research at conferences.
- FTE: 1 (35 hours/week)
- Term: Fixed (until 30/04/2027)
- Salary: £37,694 (limited due to funding)
