The Opportunity

NMIS is seeking to appoint a Health & Safety Adviser to join the team. This role will work closely with all NMIS stakeholders to manage, co-ordinate and deliver the NMIS H&S Policy across all NMIS facilities. The post holder will receive and answer questions on a wide range of work across NMIS from the simple and straightforward to more complex engineering/scientific issues.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing the NMIS Health & Safety Management System, acting as support for achieving compliance to technical, operational and legal requirements, as well as supporting continuous improvement of all business processes by influencing actions for health and safety. This requires a broad knowledge of health & safety legislation and possible solutions.

To be considered for the role, you will hold a good honours degree (or have relevant industrial experience) in engineering, science or another relevant technical discipline, with experience working within health & safety in a manufacturing, engineering or R&D function, within an industrial, business or university environment. You should have substantial experience within health and safety, including machinery safety, COSHH, DSEAR, ISO 45001 and preferably H&S auditing. You should be comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, with an ability to manage conflicting requirements and effectively transfer skills and knowledge to others.
