The Admissions & Access team sits within the Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Directorate (CMR) and provides a fully centralised, professional admissions service, responsive to customers and stakeholders. The team is responsible for delivering an exceptional experience for all applicants, across all modes of study, including undergraduate, postgraduate, research, CPD and flexible learning.

The post-holder will be required to work to the highest professional standards and to contribute to the delivery of the University’s strategic priorities. The Admissions environment changes rapidly and any successful candidate will be required to have an open and positive attitude to change.

Description of Duties
  • Customer Service
    • Provide an exceptional applicant experience from the first point of enquiry to enrolment.
    • Be a positive and proactive member of a customer-focused team, with a willingness to undertake additional duties during busy periods.
    • Communicate complex processes to those who are not familiar with them, and for whom English may not be their first language, with a good level of cultural understanding.
  • Admissions Processing
    • Support the Team Leader and Admissions Manager to deliver all parts of the admissions process.
    • Responsible for assessing applications, making decisions, issuing offers, dealing with applicant replies, processing confirmation decisions and issuing relevant scholarships.
    • Responsible for assessing all aspects of applicant information and accompanying documentation against set criteria, using a range of resources to aid decision-making, including ECCTIS, UCAS, UKCISA and UKVI.
    • Using the University’s record system (SITS), record decisions and other data with a high level of accuracy, which is required for statutory reporting.
    • Work with a high level of efficiency, meeting agreed turnaround times and performance targets.
    • Deal with sensitive, private and confidential information in a professional manner adhering to relevant legislation including GDPR.
    • Undertake pre-CAS checking, and prepare and issue Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) with a high degree of accuracy, allowing international students to apply for a student visa.
  • General
    • Respond to enquiries from prospects, applicants, parents, teachers and advisors, providing informed guidance and advice, via multiple communication channels including daily live chat.
    • Undertake business process review as required, both independently and as part of a team.
    • Participate in marketing and student recruitment events, e.g. Open Days and Offer Holder Days which will require some weekend and evening working.
    • Work in partnership with other professional service teams, faculties, international agents and university partners, including QS and INTO.
    • Any other duties required.
Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of providing a highly responsive and professional customer service.
  • Demonstrable evidence of performance delivery against targets.
  • Educated to Scottish Higher/ Higher National level.
  • Knowledge of a student record system, preferably SITS.
  • Understanding of current issues in higher education.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and continually re-evaluate priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and unsociable hours.
Desirable Criteria
  • Proactive in making improvements to existing processes with a positive approach to change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK and international school and post school qualifications.
  • Knowledge of UKVI regulations and student visas.
  • Knowledge of the academic portfolio offered at the University.
  • Knowledge of tuition fee assessment.
  • Experience of using a variety of digital communication channels.
Additional Information
  • Full time.
  • Fixed term for up to 18 months.
  • The closing date for applications is midnight on Thursday 12 March 2026.
  • Interviews are expected to take place on Monday 23 March 2026.
  • There is an expectation that work will be undertaken in the UK.
  • This role is not eligible for sponsorship. Applicants require to have existing right to work in the UK.
