About The Role
Are you an experienced Architect with a passion for shaping outstanding environments and delivering impactful projects? We are seeking a Projects Architect to join our Infrastructure team on a fixed-term contract, with an immediate start available. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the development, transformation and enhancement of the University of Staffordshire estate, delivering projects that directly support our students, staff and wider community. Working across a diverse portfolio of capital investment, refurbishment and estate improvement projects, you will lead the design and development process from concept through to delivery. You'll work with senior stakeholders, consultants and contractors to create innovative, sustainable and commercially focused solutions that help shape the future of our campuses. This role would suit a professionally qualified Architect who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex challenges and is passionate about delivering high-quality projects that make a tangible difference.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of capital, refurbishment and estate improvement projects from feasibility through to construction delivery.
- Produce and oversee conceptual, outline and detailed design proposals, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed quality, programme and budget requirements.
- Develop feasibility studies, option appraisals and business cases to support investment decisions.
- Manage and coordinate external consultants, architects, engineers and design teams.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities and translate complex requirements into practical, innovative design solutions.
- Prepare and present proposals and recommendations to senior leaders, Executive Boards and Governors.
- Support procurement processes, tender evaluations and consultant appointments.
- Ensure projects are delivered in compliance with statutory obligations, health and safety requirements and industry best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement, sustainability and innovation across the University's estate portfolio.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can bring a blend of technical expertise, commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management skills.
You’ll Ideally Have
- A degree in Architecture or a related built environment discipline.
- Significant experience leading architectural and construction projects from concept through to completion.
- Experience managing consultants, procurement processes and construction tenders.
- Strong design, project management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach with a passion for delivering great outcomes.
