University of Staffordshire has embarked on an ambitious and unique transformation in the Higher Education sector where we strive to become the UK’s leading Digital University. We’re looking for a talented Network Engineer, a technical role supporting the design and delivery of wired and wireless network services across the University, to join our Network & Infrastructure Team.

Location: Stoke Campus

Salary: £28,381 to £32,546 Per Annum - Full Time Permanent

Main Responsibilities:

  • Configuring and installing Cisco network equipment, using industry standards and best practices.
  • Supporting migrations to a Software Defined Networking architecture.
  • Using Catalyst Centre platform to monitor all devices and services to ensure that they are working correctly.
  • Port patching, audits and updating of central records.
  • Providing second line support for Incidents, Service Requests and Problems that arrive from our service desk.
  • Supporting projects and providing network support within Digital Services and wider university transformation projects.
  • Providing advice and support across teams, escalating in a timely manner as required.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of wired and wireless performance issues, connectivity to the university’s secure network, Cloud, and Internet services.
  • Assisting with FMC and ISE administration.
  • Supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy and the university’s 2030 Strategic Plan.

This is a great opportunity for an entry level Network Engineer with knowledge of and experience in Cisco technologies.

Person Specification / Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience in Cisco technologies (entry level opportunity).
  • Ability to configure, monitor and support wired and wireless networks.
  • Willingness to support transformation projects and collaborate across teams.
