The University of Staffordshire is seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to serve as the Head of Department for the Department of Computer Science and Esports. In this pivotal role, you will champion academic excellence, innovation, and strong external partnerships across our portfolio of Computer Science, Cyber Security, AI and Esports provision. You will drive the Department's strategic growth, foster an inclusive and high-performing culture for staff and students, and ensure our curriculum meets the evolving needs of the Computing and Esports sector. A Chair will be considered for the right candidate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Department, aligning its vision with the wider University Strategy.
  • Line-manage and develop Course Directors, academic staff, and research teams within the Department.
  • Oversee curriculum design and quality assurance for all Computer Science and Esports programmes.
  • Cultivate high-impact partnerships with external bodies, sector groups, and employer partners.
  • Manage Department budgets, resources, and workload allocations effectively to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Drive research excellence and knowledge exchange activities that enhance the Department's national profile.
