The University of St Andrews is seeking an experienced chemist to support the daily operation of a newly established Power-to-X (P2X) Facility. This is a fixed-term position for 48 months in the first instance, with the potential for extension subject to funding.

The role is central to the delivery of a strategic research facility focused on carbon capture and utilisation, with a primary emphasis on technical operations and infrastructure. It combines responsibility for supporting the day-to-day facility management with operation of equipment, including fixed bed reactor systems and associated analytical instrumentation.

The postholder will support the commissioning of purpose-built reactor systems and be accountable for their safe, reliable and efficient operation, including performance optimisation, maintenance and troubleshooting. The role also includes providing technical support to users and ensuring that experimental work is delivered effectively through robust operational processes and adherence to safety and quality standards.
