We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our multi‑disciplinary maintenance team responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of services throughout the University Estate.
Responsibilities
- You will be a member of our Maintenance Support Team who operate as part of the Estates Trades team assisting with the provision of general reactive and planned preventative maintenance work tasks within the University portfolio of buildings.
- You will undertake a variety of diverse maintenance tasks supporting our trades teams (electrical, plumbing, painting, joinery activities).
- At all times, you will be required to work to a high standard and ensure strict compliance with health and safety legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Good general education, ideally a City and Guilds/NVQ qualification in a building/engineering discipline.
- Extensive and relevant experience within a general maintenance environment.
- Willingness to learn new and specialist skills.
- Clean driving licence entitling you to drive a mini‑bus up to 9 seats.
- Excellent communication skills and a helpful manner.
- Ability to cope well under pressure and demonstrate a flexible approach without supervision.
- Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Working Hours
Hours vary between 7 am and 6 pm, with specific timings adapted to operational needs.
