  • Hours of work: Full-time 36.25
  • The role required flexibility to work evenings, late-night shifts, and weekends and out-ofhours incidents as and when required
  • Salary: Grade 4.17-4.21 £27,319 - £30,378
  • Location: University of St Andrews Students’ Association Franchise Outlet – The Red Gown.
  • Annual leave: 30 days + 5 public holidays. This includes 2 weeks annual leave over the

Role Overview

To support, lead and motivate the team to meet sales, profit and compliance targets. To run shifts independently and ensure delivery of excellent customer service, food and drink to specification, and a clean, safe and legal workplace in line with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Run shifts independently, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures
  • Adopt a “stand back and look” approach to maintain standards throughout the shift
  • Ensure all areas are presented and maintained correctly

Customer Experience & Service

  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times
  • Ensure food and drink are served to the correct specification
  • Maintain strong presence and visibility during shifts
  • Be welcoming and engaging with customers
  • Respond to customer feedback positively and support improvements

Standards & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe and legal workplace at all times
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and company policies
  • Follow food safety, licensing, and health & safety procedures
  • Ensure incidents, complaints, and issues are recorded appropriately
  • Support achieving and maintaining high audit and compliance standards

Commercial & Financial Support

  • Take responsibility for supporting delivery of sales and profit targets
  • Assist with forecasting sales and costs alongside the Pub Manager
  • Identify opportunities to maximise sales
  • Monitor stock levels, deliveries, and availability
  • Complete stock checks, wastage logs, and investigate variances

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and motivate the team during shifts
  • Delegate tasks effectively and provide constructive feedback
  • Support recruitment, inductions, and training of team members
  • Assist with probation reviews and performance management
  • Support rota management aligned to business needs
  • Manage day-to-day performance and attendance issues

Systems & Administration

  • Maintain shift records and documentation in line with company policies
  • Use systems for stock control, reporting, and personnel management
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and administrative procedures
  • Keep up to date with operational and marketing briefs

Maintenance & Facilities

  • Monitor and report maintenance issues
  • Support the coordination of contractors where required

Financial Responsibilities

  • Support achievement of sales and profit targets
  • Control stock, wastage, and labour during shifts
  • Assist with stock ordering and inventory management
  • Contribute to cost control and efficiency improvements

Essential

  • Experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role

  • Basic IT and systems knowledge

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience
  • Exposure to stock control and financial processes
  • Participation in management or leadership training
