Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant and auditory implant users. You will have a unique opportunity to further your career by using your clinical skills within a university setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field. USAIS is a nationally recognised centre of excellence, providing specialist assessment, surgical intervention, and lifelong support for individuals with auditory implants. Our team is passionate about enhancing quality of life through cutting‑edge technology and holistic care.

This is a full‑time permanent post with the option for part‑time/job share. As a Senior Nurse, you will play a vital role in offering expert clinical care and supporting urgent clinical queries. You will play a pivotal role in the clinical management of patients undergoing auditory implant procedures. You’ll work autonomously and collaboratively across disciplines, contributing to pre‑operative assessments, post‑operative care, and long‑term rehabilitation.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Lead nurse‑led clinics for implant assessment and follow‑up
  • Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients and families
  • Collaborate with audiologists, surgeons, and rehabilitation specialists
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and research initiatives
  • Lead on Infection Control Policy

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Strong communication skills and a patient‑focused approach
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patients
  • Ability to demonstrate safe, clinical decision making and expert care
  • Ability to work within professional boundaries, while providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care
