The University has invested over £40 million into our sports facilities across campus, making it an exciting time to join the Southampton Sport team. Our most recent development – the Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre expansion – opened in Summer 2024, featuring:
- 3 brand-new squash courts
- A state-of-the-art TechnoGym fitness suite
- 5 indoor studios

The Role
As a Fitness Ambassador, you will deliver high-quality health and fitness services, including:
- Leading fitness classes (e.g., Hyrox, indoor cycling)
- Providing personal training
- Conducting gym inductions and personalised programmes
- Supporting the daily operation of our fitness facilities in line with accredited safety standards
You will work closely with the Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Class Coordinator to deliver engaging fitness initiatives that inspire our community.
What we are looking for
- Level 3 Personal Training Qualification
- Experience in the fitness and leisure industry
- Proven ability to deliver group fitness classes, personal training, and customer engagement
- A strong commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, helping us create fitness spaces that are welcoming to all – with a focus on our disabled, Living Black, women, and LGBTQIA+ communities
- A First Aid qualification is essential (can be discussed during the interview)
Working Pattern
You will be required to work a mix of early and late shifts, including weekends, across our Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre and Mayflower Gym, supporting our 7-day service.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
