Are you a qualified (or finalist) accountant that would like to use your skills to contribute to shaping the future of healthcare? Then we have the opportunity for you! We are currently looking to recruit a Faculty Accountant to join us at the School of Healthcare, Enterprise and Innovation as the work we do continues to expand. While the role is advertised for 1fte, we are open to considering 0.8fte - 1fte adjusted role, which can be discussed should you proceed to interview.
Who are We? The School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation (HEI) is the home of several high‑profile government contracts, such as the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) and the Southampton Health Technology Assessment Centre (SHTAC), as well as other consultancy services and strategic new business. HEI delivers nationally important, internationally recognised work. We are pioneering excellence in healthcare enterprise and innovation, directly benefiting our economy and society through significant knowledge exchange, partnerships and quality performance.
What is the role? This role will help to support the work of HEI, as it continues to grow and develop as a unique school focused on Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise opportunities. Some of the key activities in this role are:
- Producing monthly management accountants
- Develop, implement and maintain robust finance procedures
- Contribute to HEI wide projects using specialist knowledge and/or lead short‑term projects
- Provide advice on financial and contractual aspects of new funding applications and on‑going projects.
Who are we looking for? You will be a qualified accountant or finalist with a track record of passing exams. Training will be provided to ensure you are able to work within HEI and University guidelines but some of the key skills we look for in a candidate are:
- Good working knowledge of accounting systems or the principles they operate with
- Ability to provide accurate and timely specialist guidance on complex issues
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to work and able to re‑evaluate and reprioritise your workload
- Collaborative worker
- Willingness to learn, adapt and challenge inefficient ways of working
