Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as a Senior Nurse and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant and auditory implant users. You will have a unique opportunity to further your career by using your clinical skills within a university setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field.
USAIS is a nationally recognised centre of excellence, providing specialist assessment, surgical intervention, and lifelong support for individuals with auditory implants. Our team is passionate about enhancing quality of life through cutting-edge technology and holistic care.
This is a full-time permanent post with the option for part-time/job share.
Responsibilities- As a Senior Nurse, you will play a vital role in offering expert clinical care and supporting urgent clinical queries.
- You will play a pivotal role in the clinical management of patients undergoing auditory implant procedures.
- You’ll work autonomously and collaboratively across disciplines, contributing to pre-operative assessments, post-operative care, and long-term rehabilitation.
- Lead nurse-led clinics for implant assessment and follow-up.
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients and families.
- Collaborate with audiologists, surgeons, and rehabilitation specialists.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and research initiatives.
- Lead on Infection Control Policy.
- Registered Nurse.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patients.
- Ability to demonstrate safe, clinical decision making and expert care.
- Ability to work within professional boundaries, while providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care.
