The University of Southampton is proud to be one of a select group of UK institutions chosen to host an award under the Global Talent Fund, part of the UK Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy. We are now inviting applications from outstanding international research leaders to join us as Anniversary Fellows – Global Talent.
A Fellowship Designed to Accelerate Global Impact
This new initiative is designed to attract world-leading researchers from outside the UK who are ready to make a transformative contribution to the UK’s research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to establish or expand your research programme in the UK, collaborate with world-class researchers, and contribute to national and global priorities.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking internationally-recognised research leaders who:
- Have an excellent track record of research excellence and leadership
- Are committed to advancing the UK’s R&I system
- Are currently based outside the UK and must not have been UK residents for the last 24 months
- Are ready to relocate and build a long-term research presence in the UK
Research Areas of Strategic Interest
We welcome applications from all disciplines aligned with one of the strategic research priorities below:
- Clean Technologies: Net zero innovation, sustainable energy, circular economy
- Life Sciences: Genomics, precision medicine, bioengineering, and health data science
- AI and Digital: Machine learning, robotics, digital health, and cybersecurity
- Defence and Advanced Manufacturing: Secure systems, autonomous platforms, materials innovation, next-generation manufacturing technologies
